Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten
WHAT IS GZSZ?
Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten (GZSZ) (“Good Times, Bad Times”) is a long-running German TV soap set in a neighbourhood in Berlin. It’s on every week night at 7:40pm German time on the RTL channel.

WHO ARE ANNI AND JASMIN?
Andrea “Anni” Brehme first appeared in GZSZ on 26th July, 2013. She moved from a small town to Berlin to be able to live freely – especially in regards to her love of women. In addition to her studies to become a sound engineer, she finds jobs at both the Vereinsheim (cafe) and the Mauerwerk (club). Anni is relentlessly honest and an absolute free spirit who can not be pigeon-holed.

Jasmin Flemming (previously also Jasmin Nowak and Jasmin Le Roy) first appeared on GZSZ in early 2008. She grew up in an adoptive family in which she was sexually abused by her adoptive father. When she first arrives in Berlin, she meets a woman who she thinks is her sister, Katrin Flemming, but who turns out to be her mother instead. They have had a rocky relationship since, but Katrin always pushes Jasmin and motivates her to hold on to her career aspirations.

Anni and Jasmin started out as room mates when Anni first arrived, they bickered a lot but Anni eventually fell in love with Jasmin. To find out about the rest of their story, you’ll just have to watch and find out…

WHAT IS TEAM RUHSE ALL ABOUT?
The term “Team Ruhse” is the most commonly used shipper name for the couple. It’s a combination of the two actresses last names; Linda Marlen Runge and Janina Uhse. The term was first used by Janina and Linda themselves.

WHAT DOES “TUSSI & LESBE” MEAN & WHERE DID IT COME FROM?
Tussi generally means girl, chick or bimbo in German but we usually translate it as “drama queen”. Lesbe means lesbian in German. And it comes from the characters of Anni and Jasmin calling each other these names. Anni generally referring to Jasmin as a Tussi and Jasmin referring to Anni as Lesbe. Bear in mind, that they do so affectionately and in a teasing way, not in a negative name calling way.

WHERE CAN I WATCH THE SHOW? WHY ISN’T IT AVAILABLE ON YOUTUBE?
The network that airs GZSZ has some super strict copyright rules and will pretty much remove any of its content from anywhere they find it uploaded. Of course there are exceptions to that rule, with some content slipping in between the cracks, such as music videos. That being said, the network does have a video on demand service where you can pay to watch each episode on RTL NOW. Alternatively, you could find a website that live streams the RTL channel and watch it there when it airs in Germany.
However, if you would like to learn more about the show and join an international community about GZSZ, come join our Facebook Page ;)

HOW COME THEY AREN’T IN EVERY EPISODE? AND WHY ARE THE EPISODES ALL DIFFERENT LENGTHS?
GZSZ is a soap with around 25 different characters at any given time. They all get given equal air time, but that also means that Anni and Jasmin won’t be in EVERY episode and the time that they are on also depends on the whether they are in their storyline or supporting one of the other characters. This is the reason the episode lengths will vary. Also both actresses take several vacations a year, in which case their characters will also not appear in the show either.

ARE THE ACTRESSES GAY IN REAL LIFE?
This is not something we as a fandom like to discuss, however we do acknowledge that new fans just joining this community will naturally be curious. So my answer to you is, does it really matter? They play their respective characters amazingly and pretty convincingly. But as far as I’m aware, neither actress has publicly come out as a lesbian.
