Previously on GZSZ…Nik came back from London but was unsuccessful in convincing Elena to come back with him. We got some adorable moments of Anni and Jasmin in the cafe, along with some unplanned amazing moments of improv (thank you SO much girls!). Sophie was able to escape Jo’s grasp of boringness and had a really fun night out with the girls. And at the end of the episode Elena comes back to Berlin to be with Nik. YAY!

** I skipped over the Nov 4 episode because it’s literally just Jasmin in the background of the cafe making a coffee **

Ep 5616

Right, first episode of November. God this is going to be a tough month to get through, I’m already dreading it. I was originally just going to skip the whole month, but decided there are still some good moments in it. It’s really a whirlwind of a storyline and I’m not exactly sure what happened behind the scenes of the writer’s room, but it felt very out of place from the usually amazing writing we’ve gotten spoiled with used to.

We open in the apartment. Anni comes through the door with a cake waiting for her, full of candles.

YAY! It’s FINALLY her birthday (write that down NOVEMBER 5). We missed it last year because Katrin was in the limelight crawling around on the floor after another break down.

Nele and Ayla are holding the cake with Jasmin and Mesut there as well. They start singing her the signature GZSZ “Happy Birthday” song and Anni starts grinning ear to ear. Jasmin cutely dances around and eventually leaps into Anni’s arms. And while Anni is telling the girls how horrible they sound, Jasmin is busy planting a million kisses all over Anni’s face. And what starts out as quite innocent kisses actually turns into a really hot kiss when Anni can no longer hold herself back and is in fact one of my favourite GIFS that I can watch over and over and over *ahem*

     

I love how everyone just falls silent as this kiss is taking place, until Mesut finally clears his throat and they break it off. Anni then asks them if they baked the cake themselves and in a wonderful throw back to Jasmin’s birthday, she says “I defrosted it myself”. Jasmin then asks Anni to wish for something beautiful as she blows out the candles and we get this adorable exchange.

          

Awww come on you guys! Is that not the cutest line you’ve ever heard? Melts my heart! Meanwhile, Mesut is trying to rush Anni to blow the candles out. COME ON MESUT! CAN’T YOU SEE THEY’RE HAVING A MOMENT?!!!

Anni then blows out all the candles in one go and they all cheer. Mesut manages to make even this sweet moment creepy by smirking at Anni and saying “Good blow”, to which Anni grimaces and says thanks. He then creepy winks at them. EW! Back it up Mesut!!!

Anni quickly changes the subject and asks where all her presents are. Awww how cute is she? Anni turns to Jasmin with a cheesy grin and everyone falls silent and backs away. Jasmin clears her throat and stands in front of Anni all serious. Anni asks her whats going on but noone says a word. Anni’s face says it all really. She’s still smiling but its forced now and she starts to look really uncomfortable, especially when Jasmin then gets down on one knee.

I have to say, that along with Anni, my heart skipped a beat here. I was like NOOOO….NO WAY! IT’S TOO SOON! NOOOO!!!!! Nele and Ayla exchange knowing looks, Jasmin is sweetly grinning away, while Anni, I think, has crapped her pants. She breaks the silence by pointing out that that box is pretty small. Anni plays with her neck, which she does when she’s uncomfortable, and Jasmin tells her that it’s not about the size. Anni slowly looks at them all and then asks Jasmin what is it. Silently Jasmin just holds the box up for Anni. Meanwhile, we’re all at home either yelling at our monitors or gasping away silently. And as Anni opens the box…

…it’s a guitar pick. And not a ring. PHEW! Thank the heavens! Everyone knows that a soap marriage is pretty much the death of a relationship, unless they are leaving the show or being killed off.

Jasmin giggles away like a mad woman while Anni laughs in relief and calls her an ass. Anni checks out her pick, which has a woman posing on it and she asks if it’s Jasmin. Jasmin tells her that of course it’s her and strikes a pose, while Anni says “Sexy”. Anni wants to try it out right away and Jasmin excitedly runs to get her guitar. Then we get this comical gem from Janina, who pretends to know how to play it and rocks out to herself for a few seconds…

As Jasmin sits up on the kitchen counter we hear something get knocked over, like cutlery or something. Right after that you can hear Janina clear her throat in a “I totally meant that” kind of way and Linda laughs at her. God they’re adorable. Anni then starts to sing “Home” and looks over at Jasmin super sweetly, who then sings along with her.

Meanwhile unbeknownst to them, Mesut has started filming Anni on his iPhone. Sneaky fucker guy.

Later in the cafe, Mesut is checking up on his video of Anni on his laptop, that he has uploaded WITHOUT Anni’s permission. Jasmin rightly tells him that he should have asked Anni BEFORE he uploaded it. Nele tells her that it’s a beautiful song…oh well that makes it alright then eh Nele? Just then Anni storms down the stairs and angrily asks if Mesut filmed her. He tells her yes, and that he uploaded it straight away and how cool is that? No Mesut, that is not cool. Super not cool. You can see the concern on Jasmin’s face as Anni angrily tells him that he knows this is not what she wants. Mesut tells her that the people LOVE the song but Anni just wants him to delete it. Jasmin then pulls the laptop away from Anni and starts reading the comments out loud; “Wait, sweetie, “Amazing! Is it available to download anywhere? It really moved me.” ”. Jasmin then can’t believe what she’s seeing and tells them all that it’s had 1000 likes!

And as Jasmin gasps away in disbelief, you can see Anni’s face slowly change from an angry one to a slightly intrigued / confused one, as she leans over the counter to check the laptop.

A bit later on some random guy comes in with flyers for an open mic contest…

WOW what are the chances??!! COME ON!!!

Jasmin reads the flyer and tells Anni that it’s tonight and that she should do it. Anni is like HELL NO but Jasmin keeps reading her the flyer and tells her that she could totally win. Anni doesn’t think so but Jasmin reminds her of her 1000 likes. Anni tells her to forget it but Jasmin doesn’t understand why she won’t just give it a try as she has nothing to lose. Anni tells her that it’s just not for her and that the discussion is now over, and besides it’s HER birthday today. But the end of that scene totally has Anni eyeing the flyer while Jasmin isn’t looking.

The next scene is still at the cafe a bit later. As Anni clears away some glasses, she is still eyeing the open mic contest flyers. While Jasmin steps away to take out an order, Anni grabs a flyer and reads it again. She then grabs her phone and calls them, just as Jasmin gets back and overhears her booking herself in. Jasmin looks over at her and half smirks, its super cute. Anni tries to ignore her and only quickly glances over at her. After she hangs up, she walks past a silent grinning Jasmin and tells her to say nothing. HAH!

Cut to later that night at the open mic contest club. The place is packed and some girl is just finishing her set. As the Scooby gang walk in, Mesut BOOs the poor girl and Nele reprimands him. Anni checks in with the contest people and the guy wishes her good luck. Meanwhile up on stage the host announces that the special guest for the night is Glasperlenspiel!!! OMG! I love these guys! I have been obsessed listening to on repeat admiring this band since they first started singing the new GZSZ theme song! So as soon as the guy announces them, I’m at home like…

The crowd (and me at home) goes wild and the Scooby gang all adorably sit up on the bar being all “too cool for school”. Anni and Jasmin exchange “can you believe who’s playing?” looks, while Carolin chit chats with the crowd and tells them they will be singing “Nie Vergessen”. ARGH! I FRIGGIN LOVE THIS SONG! You should all listen to it right now…ok just play it while you read along then

Jasmin starts to really get into the song, but poor Anni just looks terrified. Looks like she’s ready to flee the club at any second.

At one point Jasmin sings along with the line “Werd’ dich für immer vermissen” which translates to “Shall miss you forever”. Anni forces a smile but you can tell she’s really packin’ herself here.

Jasmin can probably sense the tension from Anni because she reaches over and takes Anni’s hand to calm her. Awwww soooo cute!

As Glasperlenspiel finishes their song, Jasmin leans over to Anni and asks her if she liked it. Anni tells her that of course she liked it, but now compared to them, she’s going to suck. I love Jasmin’s response to this, she says “Baby, that was your opening act”.

AWW! Where do I find me a girlfriend JUST LIKE Jasmin??!!! STAT!!!!

She also reminds Anni that they aren’t even in the competition anyways. Back on stage, the host guy announces the next contestant; Anni Brehme! Anni hands her guitar to Jasmin while she jumps down and then Jasmin grabs her face and tells her “Baby! You can do it!”. Anni hilariously replies with “Yes, Mom!”

     

OMG! I’m going to OD on all the sweetness coming from Jasmin in this episode. She plays the supportive girlfriend so well and I love how genuinely confident and proud she is of Anni and her abilities. If only every one of us could have someone like Jasmin in our lives. That is my new year’s wish for you all <3

The Scooby gang all start chanting Anni’s name as she walks up to the stage. Huge shout out to the film crew who set up this next shot, because it’s beautifully lit.

The crowd is all clapping away as she gets up on stage. We see the Scooby gallery cheering away like crazy. Anni puts her guitar on and starts to introduce herself but some dude in the audience tells her to speak up. She speaks a little louder and starts to tell the crowd about the song, but then stops and tells them that she’s just gonna play the song. Jasmin’s face here is SOOO PROUD you guys!!!

Anni is now standing in the spotlight. The crowd is super silent. We get a shot of the mic. Anni takes a deep breath and closes her eyes as she starts to play. After a few chords she stops and starts playing again. Jasmin looks on all supportive. Anni struggles to get out the first line of the song and then stops again. She apologises to the crowd and clears her throat. The Scooby gallery all take a deep breath. Anni tries again and gets through the first line of the song. Jasmin’s face starts to fall as she silently sings with Anni. Anni looks at the crowd, who are now starting to get a little restless and finally shakes her head and tells them she’s sorry. She turns around and steps off the stage as the host quickly jumps in takes over. Awww poor Anni, I just wanna give her a hug here. She looks super pissed and upset with herself for not being able to go through with it. Don’t give up Anni, we’re with you!!!
