Previously on GZSZ…crying, sadness and Nik’s funeral.

Ep 5638

We open at Nik’s wake which is being held in the cafe. The gang all stand around, staring at a picture of Nik and Tuner toasts to him. Everyone half heartedly toasts back but Tuner turns around and tries to get them to be more cheerful.

Tuner thanks all those involved with setting everything up and Alex, only Alex, claps really loudly at this. You can see Anni turning around all amused at this. Tuner tells them all to dig in and celebrate, but people still look a little too melancholic. Dr G approaches Elena and tells her that if she ever needs anything, that she is still family now. Jasmin tells Elena to come sit with them at the table and Anni sweetly grabs her a juice. 

Jasmin says that it was so beautiful by the lake and Ayla says that she thinks Dr G really liked the ceremony also. Nele’s glad that he changed his mind and Anni agrees, saying “Yeah, family tomb…excuse me?”. Mesut says that they should go visit the lake more often now. And as the gang chit chat around Elena, we slowly zoom in on her face and see that she not dealing well at all. After they finish eating, Anni and Jasmin go to get up and we get this cute little look exchanged between them. NAAAAAWWWW!

Jasmin tells Anni that she wanted to talk to her about the flight and Anni tells her that she also wanted to bring that up. Dr G and Sophie come over to say their goodbyes and hug Elena before they leave. Emily then gets a call that she has to pick up Kate and asks Tayfun to go with her and they both leave. 

Cut to a bit later and the gang is still at the cafe “celebrating” Nik’s life. Nele thinks the term “Funeral Feast” just sounds weird, after Mesut has told them that in Turkey they celebrate someone’s death for 3 days.

Ayla explains that the family and friends all get together and share stories of the deceased. Tuner looks over at Elena, who doesn’t really look like she’s all there. Jasmin then tells them that she thinks they will get going but offers to help clean up first. Elena tells her that there’s no need as they will take care of it and besides they are going to Costa Rica tomorrow.

Jasmin tells her that they will cancel it and Elena hopes it’s not because of her. Everyone goes silent for a moment until Elena says “I’m not going to stay here anyway” and they all question her why…but she tells them that she is headed back to London. Ayla asks Elena what she’s going to do in London all by herself. She tells them that it was very sweet, the way she was welcomed here by them all and they all proceed to tell her “Of course” “You belong here now!”.

Not sure if Anni says something funny here and it was cut out but it sure looks that way…ORRR keep reading for my other theory.

Elena tells them that Nik has the best of friends and Tuner pipes up to say “And now they your friends now”. Anni replies with “I mean, what else? Excuse me?” and everyone laughs. I suspect that that previous shot of Anni laughing was cut from the end of this shot and inserted up above.

BTW how sweetly is Jasmin looking at Anni above???

Elena tells them all that they’re really sweet but that she’s made her decision. We then see Tuner pacing back and forth and muttering “But I promised him” under his breath. Jasmin overhears him and asks him about it. He tells her and Anni that he made a promise to Nik to look after Elena, as his last words to him were “Take care of Elena”. He asks them how he’s supposed to do that if she goes back to London. Anni tells him that there’s not much he can do about it. It’s not like he can chain her up here.

Elena comes down the stairs and it’s clear that she has just overheard this last conversation. Tuner tells her that she wasn’t supposed to know about that. She tells him that he shouldn’t feel responsible for her, no matter what Nik said to him. And then we get this beautiful shot of Anni.

Elena tells him that she can look after herself, that she always has and that he shouldn’t worry about her. They then sweetly hug.

Cut to the next morning. Tuner is looking over the cafe roster for the next week, which pretty much only has Nik and Katha listed on it. Anni tells Tuner that Katha now can’t work for a while. And he tells her that MAYBE if Elena stayed, they might have managed but at the moment, with only Ayla, they cannot. Cue concerned faces all around. 

Anni says that they can kiss Costa Rica goodbye then but that they’ll all manage somehow. Elena comes down the stairs and seeing their faces, asks them if there’s a problem. They all quickly answer no. She takes the roster from Tuner and looks at it and after an awkward silence, she tells them that she’ll take Nik’s shifts. She tells Anni and Jasmin that they can now go on their vacation and Tuner can go to rehab. Tuner smiles at her and asks her if she’s staying then and she tells him that she will stay at least until he gets back. Anni gets super excited and can hardly believe it. She thanks her and they all give Elena big hugs. Notice the way Jasmin does her little shoulder squeeze again when she hugs Elena. 

    


Ep 5650

Jasmin and Anni are currently in Costa Rica, so the only notable thing in this episode was Jasmin texting her little sister this cute holiday photo. 

And the other cute thing, besides Anni and Jasmin’s faces here, is that Johanna actually knows that Anni is Jasmin’s girlfriend. YAAAAY!
